Baby Expo
Posted on April 20th, 2009 1 commentFor anyone that is going to be in the Los Angeles area April 25th & 26th, there is a baby expo taking place at the LA convention center. This is an expo where new baby, toddler and tween products are being showcased. There are fashion shows for moms and kids. There is a Disney play area for the little ones and all sorts of fun things to see and do. For more info about the expo please go to www.seascapeproductions.com, I will add a link as well.
We will be doing our business launch at this expo and we are very excited about it. We will have all of our organic clothes available to see and purchase if you find anything that you must take home. We will also be taking orders for our organic bedding. We will have 2 sample sets on display, but for travel reasons won’t be bringing it with us. We will however give free shipping to anyone that orders bedding at the show!
Have a great week, and hope to see you at the Baby Expo!

Posted on April 18th, 2009 4 commentsI’m all for cloth diapers, but there’s something to be said about the convenience of disposable. How do we find a balance between good for baby and the earth, but easy to clean/wash and easy to change in public? Well Seventh Generation is a pretty good place to look. I used cloth diapers until my little one was a couple weeks old. Cloth diapers combined with lack of sleep amounted to a few disasters along the way and me looking for an alternative to the cloth. I have used seventh generation diapers ever since, there are a lot of thing that I really liked about this product, they fit great as well as being more Eco friendly than other disposables and they are priced similar to Huggie’s and Pampers.
Seventh Generation disposable diapers are dioxin free which is a great start when looking for cloth alternative. Dioxin are cancer causing chemicals which are found in most disposable diapers. Seventh Generation diapers are also non bleached and are a lovely shade of paper bag brown, great for the environment because it keeps harmful chemicals, dioxins, from entering it. Here is a list of the ingredients in seventh generation:
- Chlorine-free wood pulp fluff
- Sodium Polyacrylate (SAP)
- Polyolefin nonwoven fabric
- Adhesives
- Polyolefin film
- Synthetic rubber elastic strands
Notice that they don’t add fragrance to the list. I have found that any time we had to use regular diapers, this only happened two or three times, my little girl would get horrible diaper rash. She has had diaper rash maybe four times ever and 3 of those times were after wearing one regular disposable.
I have tried a few other “Eco” disposable diapers and found that most are really hard, or beyond expensive. The only other brand that I have found that I really like is a generic store brand at our local grocery store and they are great it! They are made by a company called Full Circle, if you see them check it out. If your looking for an Eco friendly diaper, that is easy to find, check out seventh generation.
I have also just learned that Huggies has started making there own Eco friendly diaper as well. I don’t have any info on that, but you bet I am going to start looking into it now, I’ll keep you posted on what I find out!
For those of you that are able to maintain the cloth diapering I am amazed by you and would love to know how you have been able to do it. For those like me that want or need the convenience of disposable give Seventh Generation a try!

Posted on April 14th, 2009 3 commentsHealthy paint comes from Cows???

Milk paint. I heard about milk paint a few years back, mind you I’ve never actually tried it. Mostly because my whole house is painted and I can’t afford to change the color just yet, but I look forward to the day I can give it a try.
The milk paint that I am talking about comes from Anna Sova her site is www.annasova.com THE FOLLOWING Is directly from her site about the milk paint “90% food ingredients! The healthiest ingredients you can buy! Milk casein (as in yogurt), titanium dioxide (as in powered donuts), food grade emulsifiers and preservatives (as in milkshakes and chocolates). Isn’t breathing it the same as eating it? Just consider a gallon of our healthy paint as twelve pounds of vanilla truffles, and it’s a bargain!” Who doesn’t love truffles!!
This site has the most amazing colors imaginable! Every warm shade of brown, cream, white, orange etc The number of shades is impressive. Again I haven’t tried this product, but not a lot of people know about milk paint and for anyone looking for a healthy alternative to regular paint, but still want the color options this is a great product to check out.
I will do an update of this post once I figure out what room in the house needs a makeover!

Green Fun!
Posted on April 8th, 2009 No commentsSpring outside with the family
With Spring in the air, it’s a great time to turn off the TV and get the whole family outside. One of our favorite activities is going to our local state park as a family. The spring happens to be the best time to find all sorts of flowers just starting to bloom as well as animals. The animals were out in droves the last time we were out and my daughter had a great time counting newts.
What sort of animals can you and your family find in your local park? Time to get out start exploring!
Here’s a little friend to get you motivated.

Green Feeling
Posted on April 7th, 2009 No commentsFrom Blue to Green
Sometimes I get this feeling like, what’s the point? Why do I try to be so ECO friendly when the rest of the world seems to be trashing the earth at record pace. Then I realise that without people that feel the way I do, about doing what’s right for the earth, then the next generations might never see a tree, or see the ocean with whales or fish in it, or even breath fresh air.
This gives me the hope to keep pushing on even when it seems I’m in the mission alone. So thank you to all those out there that are pushing through and doing what can seem impossible, being ECO friendly.
I know we are all in this together and I hope that anytime you might start to feel the hopeless, why bother, please remember we are in this together. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been green your whole life or your just finding out about the green movement. Every bit helps and we are all aiming for the same goals.

Posted on April 5th, 2009 No commentsToday is the first day that I am feeling really normal. I have been fighting some sort of wicked possessed flu/cold hybrid. Today I am feeling like me, although I sound like I gargled with gravel for a few days in a row.
My only tip for today is stay away from sick people, hang outside where they are not. If someone comes near you and looks like they are ready to sneeze, cough or blow their nose RUN screaming arms flying in the opposite direction. Don’t feel rude, feel smart and know that you have just saved yourself from weeks of wondering when Grim (Reaper) will show up at your doors step, and wondering if it would really be that bad to see him.
On that note I wish everyone a sniffle free day.
